The Vision

A Video Message from Aydian

Production Approach & Deliverables

Core Film and Ancillary Content

In each location, we'll film interviews with recipients and, whenever possible, their families and support network. We'll capture iconic landscapes, travel footage, and b-roll specific to each person's life. We'll show interactions between recipients and Aydian, who'll serve as Point of Pride's on-camera representative.

Our wide-ranging sit-down interview with Aydian will look back over these last ten years, revealing the deep commitment of each and every Point of Pride volunteer and staff member, and establishing how Point of Pride's work is woven throughout this rich tapestry of diverse stories.

Throughout the process, new narratives and opportunities are sure to emerge: Portraits, behind the scenes pics, and stories from the road will provide a steady stream of engaging content throughout the summer of 2026.

But we'll always be grounded in our core deliverable in the fall: an inspiring, anthemic video celebrating Point of Pride's first decade of human impact.

Though we'll see glimpses of each story in this 10-year celebration video, there will remain a treasure of footage to serve the organization's needs for years to come—and anchor any other exciting opportunities the project is sure to attract.

The Archive

Using a secure, custom-built Airtable base, we'll meticulously catalog all the footage we capture.

Interview transcripts, biographical info, and descriptions of care facilitated by Point of Pride will sit alongside downloadable portraiture, interview links, and other details that may reveal themselves to be important in future iterations of this storytelling.

This database is itself a key deliverable, providing a searchable index from which to source quotes, develop stories for press outreach, proactively contribute to the national discourse around emerging trans issues, propel lobbying efforts, and support national community mobilization projects.

Respecting our Recipients' Personal Space

In large-scale narrative productions, vast amounts of gear is often technically inevitable. Actors and crew may even find a crowded soundstage reassuring, imaging it to be evidence of the studio's belief in their project.

Such is not typically the case in documentary filmmaking.

Years of experience capturing deeply personal stories in sensitive environments have taught us the importance of maintaining the lightest possible production footprint.

Camera and lighting equipment can easily overwhelm an environment of any size, and this is especially true for private homes. This consideration will be chief among our criteria as we design a streamlined equipment package that respects our subjects' personal spaces—without sacrificing the beautiful images and audio our subjects deserve.

David Rice

he/him

I’ve worn many hats over the years, identifying interchangeably and often concurrently as a musician, photographer, composer, producer, digital designer, and filmmaker. On especially good days, like today, I fancy myself an artist.

I've been told I bring to the table a cocktail of imaginative insight and creative execution, each of which I enjoy immensely.

My clients are primarily foundations and nonprofits, though I do occasionally still work with consumer brands (most of whom are secretly hoping to be mistaken for a foundation or nonprofit). I'm sensitive to the unique politics of each, and have a knack for ticking the boxes without compromising the work.

Along the way I've earned a Clio Award, two Emmy nominations, and, by admittedly tenuous association, a Grammy nomination—welcome consolations for the plenty projects that never got off the ground!

As the project develops, we'll discover unique opportunities for sharing these stories through both earned and owned media. This interactive map is a mock-up of one such idea.
